How to calculate 18% in your head
Easiest trick: calculate 20% (double the bill, shift the decimal one place), then subtract 10% of that result. For a $50 bill → 20% is $10, then subtract $1 ≈ $9. Close enough — round to the nearest dollar or half-dollar and you are done.
